COREN TERMS ADDENDUM
Last updated: May 3, 2026
Document version: v1.1
Applies to: Coren — the family financial-literacy product operated by The Hiwat Group Sociedad Limitada ("THG SL").
How this Addendum works
This Addendum sits on top of THG SL's general Terms & Conditions, which remain the foundational contract governing the relationship between THG SL and its clients. The general Terms & Conditions continue to apply in full. This Addendum only adds, clarifies, or extends specific items where Coren — as a consumer-facing family product — operates differently from THG SL's other professional and educational services.
In the event of any discrepancy between the THG SL Terms & Conditions and this Addendum, this Addendum prevails for matters specific to the Coren product; for all other matters, the THG SL Terms & Conditions govern.
1. Company & Contact Details
The company details, registered address, contact email, and registry information are as set out in §1 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions. Coren is a product line operated by THG SL.
For Coren-specific questions, contact: assistant@thehiwatgroup.com.
2. Scope of Coren
Coren is a digital family-finance product designed to help parents and children practise financial literacy through an in-app virtual environment. It is offered to consumer households on a subscription basis.
Coren is provided in both B2C and (where applicable) B2B-via-school contexts, consistent with §2 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions.
3. Who Is the Contracting Party
Consistent with §4.4 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions:
- The contracting party is always the parent or legal guardian who creates the Coren account and adds children to the household. The contracting party is never the minor.
- All consents, acceptances, and contractual commitments under these Terms must be provided by the legally responsible adult.
- Children access Coren only under the supervision, responsibility, and authority of a parent or legal guardian.
The parent is responsible for ensuring that any use of Coren by a child in their household is appropriate to that child's age and circumstances.
4. Subscriptions and Billing
The subscription provisions in §4.2 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions apply to Coren, with the following Coren-specific clarifications:
4.1 Subscription tiers
Coren is offered on a tiered subscription model — for example, a free tier with limited functionality and one or more paid tiers (currently "Family" and "Family +") with expanded functionality. The exact features of each tier may evolve over time and are documented in-product and on the Coren marketing pages.
4.2 Renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled prior to the renewal date, consistent with §4.2 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions. The parent may cancel at any time via their parent settings or by contacting assistant@thehiwatgroup.com.
4.3 Refunds
Refunds are governed by the rules set out in §4.2 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions and by mandatory consumer-protection law in the parent's country of residence (typically the EU consumer-rights framework for EEA residents).
4.4 Tier downgrades
Where a parent moves from a paid tier to a lower tier, certain features (such as expanded mission catalogues, advanced pet/store options, or premium content) may become unavailable. Existing in-app data — coin balances, child profiles, mission completions — is preserved across tier changes.
5. In-App Virtual Currency ("Coren Coins")
Coren coins are an in-app virtual currency used solely within the Coren product to teach children financial concepts through play.
- Coren coins have no monetary value outside the product.
- Coren coins cannot be exchanged for real money, withdrawn, redeemed, traded, gifted between accounts, or used outside the Coren product.
- Coren coins are not refundable on subscription cancellation, since they were not purchased — they are awarded to children for in-product activities (chores, missions, savings goals, pet care, etc.).
- Coren is not a money-services business, banking service, or payment-services provider. No real money is held, transferred, or withdrawn through child accounts.
The parent retains full control over real-money flows within the household; Coren is an educational layer, not a financial service.
6. Child Accounts and Parental Responsibility
6.1 Adding children
The parent may add one or more children to their household, up to the limits permitted by their subscription tier. Each child profile requires the parent to set:
- A display name or nickname
- An age range (one of "3–5", "6–9", "10–13", "14–17")
- A PIN for in-app login (the child uses the PIN; it is stored as a one-way hash)
6.2 Universal parental control
Coren is designed for global use across multiple jurisdictions. The parent or legal guardian holds absolute control over the child's Coren account. The parent can at any time:
- Edit a child's profile (name, age range, theme, avatar)
- Reset a child's PIN
- Pause or remove the child's access
- Delete the child's profile and associated data
The child does not exercise contractual or data-protection rights directly within Coren; the parent acts on the child's behalf at all times. This applies regardless of the child's age band or the family's country of residence.
6.3 Co-parents
The parent may invite a co-parent to the household. The co-parent has shared parental control over the child profiles in the household. Both parent and co-parent are bound by these Terms.
6.4 Account deletion
A parent may request deletion of a child profile or the entire household at any time via parent settings or by contacting assistant@thehiwatgroup.com. Deletion is processed in line with §6 of the Coren Privacy Addendum.
6.5 Reward mechanics — educational repetition
Coren's gameplay layer (streaks, missions, surprise rewards, pet-care reminders, store and home progression) is designed to support educational repetition — the principle that financial-literacy concepts are best learned through return practice over time rather than single-session exposure. The mechanics exist to encourage the child to come back, complete short learning loops, and consolidate concepts.
The parent retains visibility into and control over the child's use of Coren, including the ability to pause access at any time. Coren does not include real-money mechanics directed at children, in-app purchases inside child accounts, or peer-to-peer messaging between users.
7. Acceptable Use
Consistent with §3 of the THG SL Legal Notice and §3 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions:
- Use of Coren must be in accordance with the law, good faith, and these Terms.
- Use for unlawful purposes, or in any manner that may cause harm to THG SL, other Coren users, or third parties, is prohibited.
In addition, Coren-specific:
- The parent must not share their Coren parent account credentials with anyone other than the co-parent.
- The parent must not attempt to extract, redistribute, or reverse-engineer Coren's content, missions, articles, or any other intellectual property of THG SL.
- The parent is responsible for the appropriate use of Coren by any child in their household.
8. Intellectual Property
The intellectual-property provisions in §4 of the THG SL Legal Notice and §4.3 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions apply to Coren in full. All Coren content — missions, articles, copy, illustrations, themes, pet designs, store-item designs, code, and any other material — is owned by THG SL or by third parties who have authorised its use.
Reproduction, distribution, public communication, or transformation of Coren content without prior express written authorisation of THG SL is prohibited, except where legally permitted.
9. Liability
The liability provisions in §5 of the THG SL Legal Notice and §§5.5–5.6 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions apply to Coren.
In addition, Coren-specific:
- Coren is provided as an educational tool. THG SL does not guarantee specific learning outcomes, financial literacy outcomes, or behavioural outcomes for any child using the product.
- THG SL is not responsible for any decisions a parent or child makes about real-world money based on or inspired by use of Coren. Coren coins, missions, and articles are illustrative; they are not financial advice.
10. Service Availability
Consistent with §4.2 and §5 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions:
- THG SL does not guarantee the uninterrupted availability of Coren.
- Where there is a verified disruption exceeding seven (7) consecutive days, the refund and remediation rules of §4.2 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions apply.
11. Third-Party Platforms
Consistent with §7 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions, Coren may rely on third-party software, platforms, and integrations (for example, hosting, database, email, and payment infrastructure). While reasonable safeguards are maintained, THG SL is not liable for outages, errors, or other issues originating from those third parties beyond its reasonable control.
12. Privacy
The processing of personal data within Coren is governed by:
- The THG SL Privacy Notice (foundational document)
- The Coren Privacy Addendum (Coren-specific extensions)
13. Termination
THG SL may suspend or terminate access to Coren in the event of misuse or breach of these Terms, consistent with §4.3 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions.
The parent may terminate their Coren subscription at any time, consistent with §4 above.
14. Governing Law, Jurisdiction, and Dispute Resolution
Consistent with §10 of the THG SL Terms & Conditions:
- These Terms are governed exclusively by Spanish law.
- For consumer parents, jurisdiction is determined in accordance with mandatory EU consumer-protection rules; the governing law of the contract remains Spanish law.
- Any dispute should first be raised with THG SL via assistant@thehiwatgroup.com, with mediation or alternative dispute resolution available by mutual agreement.
15. Updates to This Addendum
This Addendum may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to parents in-product and may require fresh acceptance.
16. English Version Notice
This Addendum is provided in English for convenience. If a Spanish version is published, the Spanish version shall prevail in the event of any discrepancy, consistent with §7 of the THG SL Legal Notice.
